Longest Nonstop Row in History – A Long Row for Water
Friday, October 9, 2026 | Oceanside Rotary Club
What would inspire someone to spend months alone on the Pacific Ocean, rowing thousands of miles with no sail and no motor?
At our October 9th meeting, Oceanside Rotarian Darrel Larson will share the remarkable story of endurance athlete and clean-water advocate Katie Spotz and her upcoming A Long Row for Water expedition.
Katie is preparing for an approximately 10,000-mile solo, nonstop row across the Pacific Ocean from Lima, Peru, to Cairns, Australia—an expedition intended to establish the longest nonstop ocean row in history.
But this journey is about much more than breaking records.
Katie is using the expedition to raise awareness and support for clean water, with a goal of helping provide safe water to 100,000 people in Fiji.
Join us as Darrel Larson shares Katie’s story, the incredible physical and mental challenges of crossing the Pacific alone, and the purpose behind this historic journey.
